Product Details

I have been reading up many scientific researches and studies regarding Butterfly blue pea and I am most impressed by our magical little blue flower! As it is so common here in Singapore, Malaysia and regional countries within South East Asia and India, the Western World is popularising and hunting down blue pea flowers due to its rare deep blue pigment and high antioxidant levels.

This legume plant is widely used in traditional medicine such as in our local herbalism, Ayurveda and TCM, because it is rich in bioactive compounds. For example, the seeds and leaves of are reported to be used as poultices to treat swollen joints. The flower tea is revealed to treat a wide range of ailments like insect bites, inflamed eyes, and skin disorders. The roots of the plant are also used to cure several health conditions such as infections, asthma, body aches and pulmonary tuberculosis.

In 2022, Thai researchers reported that blue pea has health benefits like helping in digestion, improving eyesight, lowering blood pressure, and making the skin glow. The flowers (when utilised/ingested/used) have anti-diabetic activity, anti- hyperglycemic activity, antioxidant activity, anti-cancer potential. The coolest part is that blue pea also helps with neurological disorders and are highly beneficial for the central nervous system, such as depression, anxiety, seizures and inflammatory pain. I must say that, when I used her pure hydrosol, I do feel a sense of groundedness and calmness, and an increased ability to focus on tasks at hand.

This rare hydrosol is steam distilled at my home studio, using freshly dried deep blue-purple flowers from Thailand. This is the First Distillate, meaning it possesses the most potent, therapeutic and medicinal qualities of Butterfly Blue Pea flowers at its purest and truest form. By the way, I have searched the entire web for Blue Pea hydrosol (for comparison studies) and have only found 2-3 apothecary brands selling it.

PLEASE READ: If you appreciate and want to experience First Distillate pure hydrosol, then choose the original butterfly blue pea hydrosol. If you prefer something less intense on your nose, I created another blend of Roman chamomile and blue pea hydrosol together. Roman chamomile's sweetness balances the vegetal aroma of blue pea nicely, so overall it smells sweet-herbaceous with slight earthy undertones.

P/S Feel free to blend both hydrosols yourself too!
