has stated that Boswellia serrata essential oil and CO2 extract may have a problem with those on blood thinning medication and those who have blood or heart problems. This effect may be due to presence of Estragole, also known as Methylchavicol, in the oil. According to Essential oil Safety second edition Robert Tissurand/Rodney Young, p 553, "Estragole have an in vitro antiplatelet effect. This effect is compared to diluted aspirin solution".
