Cymbopogon flexuosus

The scent from Lemongrass is stimulating and refreshing, thus being used in holistic aromatherapy for a number of formulations to help increase alertness and promote concentration and focus – a good start in the morning! Modern research in India also reveals that Lemongrass acts as a sedative on the central nervous system.

Lemongrass EO is not only psychologically refreshing, but it also serves as a tonic for tightening weak connective tissue. The EO strengthens blood vessels and helps prevent varicose veins. It is beneficial for the treatment of sports injuries like bruises and pulled ligaments. It may be used as a cold compress or bandage, with Lemongrass EO diluted in a carrier oil.

Lemongrass was used for infectious illness and fever in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine. In East India, lemongrass oil is combined with coconut oil to rub on lumbago, rheumatism and painful nerve ailments.

In the Caribbean, lemongrass baths are popular to ease soreness, and are also used for nervous and digestive problems.

Slimming massage oil

  • Shake well and keep away from heat and sunlight

Lemongrass + Geranium vegan candle

  • Items needed: Candle holders (glass/ceramic bowl), soy wax flakes, candle wicks, glue dots and EOs (Lemongrass and Geranium)
  • First attach your glue dot to the underside of the metal bit of your wick. Straighten the wicks so they stand tall and upright.
  • Stick the candle wick down to the bottom of the bowl with the aid of the glue dot.
  • Fill the bowl with the wax flakes to about an inch or so from the brim, dump it into your glass bowl and then do it again. The solid wax reduces to approximately half the volume once it’s melted. So to find out how much solid wax you’ll need, simply fill the container and then double it.
  • Melt the wax flakes over heat and then let it cool down for a few minutes.
  • Add the EOs (25 drops each) when its cooled while still in its liquid state. (High heat will destroy the natural aromatic compounds within the EOs)
  • Stir in the EOs into the melted wax and then pour into the bowls. Let it set for a day or two.

Non-toxic, dermal irritating and/or sensitization in some individuals. Please dilute before using on skin.
